Richard Wylie honoured with an International Fellowship in the prestigious Explorers Club

Richard has been accepted as an International Fellow of the Explorers Club. Based in New York the Club is a prestigious, international, multidisciplinary professional society dedicated to the advancement of field research and the ideal that it is vital to preserve the instinct to explore. Since its inception in 1904, the Club has served as a meeting point and unifying force for explorers and scientists worldwide. 

Fellowship is reserved for those who have distinguished themselves by directly contributing to scientific knowledge in the field of geographical exploration or allied sciences. Such accomplishments usually are evidenced by scientific publications documenting fieldwork or explorations and as such its a significant achievement to be included as an International Fellow and an honor to be among the 3000 members worldwide! There are currently only 76 Australasian members (59 from Australia and 13 from New Zealand) - of which only 38 are Fellows.

Today the membership includes field scientists and explorers from over sixty countries whose disciplines include: aeronautics, anthropology, archaeology, astronomy, biology, ecology, entomology, mountaineering, marine biology, oceanography, paleontology, physics, planetology, polar exploration, and zoology. The Club's members have been responsible for an illustrious series of famous firsts: First to the North Pole, first to the South Pole, first to the summit of Mount Everest, first to the deepest point in the ocean, first to the surface of the moon — all members of the EC.
